Expert Q&A with Altek AI's new advisors
Erling, how do you envision Generative AI contributing to solving the biggest challenges the hotel industry is facing today?
"We have only seen the beginning of what Generative AI can do for the hotel and tourism industry. The development is moving very quickly, and the only limit in the future seems to be the imagination, especially for an industry known for being somewhat traditional and slow-moving. The hotel industry is labor-intensive, and the goal should be to work smarter—not necessarily harder. Already today, chatbots and virtual assistants powered by AI can handle guest inquiries 24/7/365, respond to common questions, and even assist with bookings and special requests. This provides faster and more efficient customer service, even outside traditional operating hours. AI can analyze guests' preferences and past experiences to offer tailored recommendations and services, resulting in a more personalized experience.
AI can streamline booking processes by offering easy and intuitive navigation through reservation systems, managing cancellations and changes, and even sending invoices or payment links to guests who have used self-check-in/out or forgotten to pay for services during their stay.
Investing in AI can give competitors a significant competitive advantage. Neglecting AI opportunities will likely reduce a business's competitiveness in the coming years—and it's coming fast!"
Malene, with your extensive experience from both Danish and international hotel chains, which trends do you think will have the greatest impact on technology integration in the industry going forward?
"I have followed the hotel industry from being analogue to becoming digital. Today, we can derive a wealth of data and analyze it on many different platforms. The next necessary step on the road is now made possible by artificial intelligence. Altek AI's mission is to revolutionize the hospitality industry with advanced AI solutions that enhance the guest experience, streamline operations, and boost revenue. In an instant, hotel operators can access a consolidated overview of their operations that surpasses human capabilities. AI enables us to shift focus away from screens, freeing up time for leadership and guest service. At the same time, guests get access to real-time service transcending time zones in 100+ different languages before, during and after their stay!
The large international hotel chains are typically the first to jump on board with trends, but Altek AI offers scalable solutions that also allow small and medium-sized hotel operators to stay competitive while focusing on their core business. I believe artificial intelligence will have a huge impact on the future development of the industry, and it's important to jump on the bandwagon.
Altek AI continues to focus on innovation and growth in AI technology for the hotel industry, aiming to create exceptional customer experiences and optimize operations worldwide. The company looks forward to collaborating with Erling and Malene to realize its vision of setting a new standard for AI-driven solutions in the hospitality sector."
